March 3, 2017 One Week Puppy Update

One week has passed since the Cinnamon gave us eleven puppies. They have grown quite a bit, a few have the early stages of eyes coming open. They are a good lot and all have some place to be on May 27th when they go to their new homes. There hasn't been many physical changes in their first week. Ann removed their dew claws and the little wounds have all healed. Personalities are beginning to emerge, but for the most part they have the same personalities we saw on day one. They have all grown up quite a lot:

  • Milano is still the littlest Basset Baby. she started off at 8.6 ounces, which was small, and today she sits at a very healthy 17.2 ounces. Quite a little eater, she is still the cutest and the smallest.
  • Hydrox began life at 12 ounces, but has put on a little weight. Hydrox tips the scales at 24 ounces today, doubled her weight and by far the heaviest.
  • Abernathe came to us weighing 11 ounces but today she sits at 22 ounces, another really healthy puppy.
  • Grasshopper was always a fast runner. He is very fast today as well, being one of the first to crack a little eye open. He was 9.7 ounces on day one, today he tips the scales at just ove 19 ounces.
  • Chips Ahoy came tenth in order of appearance weighing 11.3 ounces, today he is a very respectable 20.6 ounces.
  • Macaroon began life at 11.8 ounces and today has almost doubled in size to 22.6 ounces.
  • Lorna Doon is a very pretty little girl, advanced for her age she moves well and has opened both eyes a crack. Starting off at 11.3 ounces she now weighs a happy 21 ounces.
  • Nutter Butter was 10.3 ounces, but now she weighs 17 and 3/4 ounces. She has one eye open just a little too.
  • Snickerdoodle went from 11.8 to 20.2 ounces and is very squiggly. Hard to keep hold of.
  • Thumbprint has wonderful markings, is mostly black and white, and weighs 19.68 ounces, up from 11.7.

Everyone seems quite healthy.

Cinnamon has regained her former sleek body and her hair is very soft. She is maybe eating a bit too well, but she has a lot of work to do. Cinnamon Bear is a very good mother, but finds time to just be one of the dogs about an hour a day. She tends to be demanding, but good natured even as she demand a second jelly bean or dog biscuit.

All is well, there will be pictures when we look them over again at week #2.
